On Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at her 36th annual national convention, the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (USA), Inc. (AKISAN USA), announced the winners of her annual scholarship program. The scholarships are being awarded to 2 students per Local Government Area (L.G.A.) in Akwa Ibom State (62 students in all), Nigeria and 10 students in the United States of America.
In his speech at the convention, the national president, Mr. Itoro Akpan-Iquot, thanked all the donors who made the scholarship program possible and especially thanked members of the education committee for the diligent work they put in to determine the winners.
Based on enthusiasm for the awardees, the national president offered a “100-Student Scholarship Challenge” asking members to donate additional monies to bring the total number of awardees in Akwa Ibom State to 100. So far 28 additional students will get scholarships, ranging from N50,000 to N100,000, bringing the total to 88 students. This challenge is open to beneficiaries in both the United States and Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
The 100-Student Scholarship Challenge for 2023 is over. Call the National President at 404-276-4267 for details on how to participate during the 2024 Scholarship Award season. We thank everyone for participating in this challenge. Every school age child deserves a university education.

- Checks will be mailed to chapter presidents of awardees in the United States of America
- There were NO student applicants from Eastern Obolo L.G.A. 2 members sponsored 1 student each from this L.G.A. and their names will be part of the supplemental table below
- To make up for the 2 missing students from the original list, 2 more students were selected from Uyo L.G.A. and will be awarded N50,000 each
