Meet Ekaette Stephen Umo-Ituen – Lead Instructor, A.I.L.P.

Child coach and language tutor as Lead Instructor of the AKISAN Ibibio Language Program (A.I.L.P.). Eight years ago, she identified a diaspora gap and started teaching Ibibio to help children connect with family, particularly grandparents. My mission evolved from communication support to active language preservation, protecting Ibibio across generations. She believe that “your language is your security,” as identity and belonging are rooted in it. She employ creative teaching methods to make classes interactive, fun, and culturally rich. I encourage families and youth to embrace their role in preserving their language and culture and invite them to join the preservation movement.
