What We’re Doing Right Now

These flagship programs represent our ongoing commitment to education, health, and safe housing for Akwa Ibom families at home and abroad.

Education Initiatives

Education is at the heart of AKISAN’s mission. Through scholarship programs and student-focused support, we help Akwa Ibom undergraduates in Nigeria and the United States stay in school, stay focused, and build futures that can lift entire families.

Health Mission

Our Health Mission initiatives mobilize medical professionals, volunteers, and partners to support community health. These efforts often include medical outreach, health education, and resources that strengthen healthcare access in underserved communities.

  • Support for community health missions and medical outreach trips.
  • Collaboration with healthcare partners and local clinics.
  • Health awareness campaigns during national conventions and chapter events.
Compassionate Homes

Compassionate Homes focuses on housing stability and dignity. Through targeted support, we assist families and vulnerable individuals facing housing challenges and work with partners to provide safe, supportive living conditions.

  • Housing support programs for vulnerable families.
  • Collaborative projects that improve living conditions in select communities.
  • Emergency assistance for families affected by crises or displacement.
Fuel Our Current Programs

Help us keep students in school, support critical health outreach, and extend housing assistance to families who need it most.

Community Impact

Serving Our People in Moments That Matter

Beyond our core programs, AKISAN responds to real-life challenges—natural disasters, cultural erosion, youth unemployment, and gaps in practical skills—through targeted community impact initiatives.

Disaster Relief

When disaster strikes—whether in Akwa Ibom communities or cities where our members reside—AKISAN rallies quickly. Through fundraising, relief supplies, and coordinated support with local partners, we help families rebuild and recover.

Cultural Preservation

Our cultural preservation initiatives protect the stories, language, music, and traditions that make Akwa Ibom unique. From cultural nights and festivals to heritage education for diaspora youth, we ensure that our identity remains vibrant across generations.

  • Showcasing Akwa Ibom dance, music, and cuisine at conventions and chapter events.
  • Programs that help diaspora children connect with their language and heritage.
  • Support for cultural groups and performers within the community.

Youth Development

AKISAN invests in the next generation through youth-focused leadership and empowerment programs. We encourage young people to lead, serve, and innovate—both in their communities and in their careers.

  • Youth leadership and mentorship opportunities via chapters and national events.
  • Engagement in community service, public speaking, and organizing.
  • Recognition of outstanding youth contributions to the Association.

Skill Acquisition & Empowerment

Practical skills open doors. Through skill acquisition and empowerment initiatives, we support training in areas such as entrepreneurship, technology, and trades—helping our community members become more financially independent and future-ready.

  • Workshops and trainings hosted by chapters or partner organizations.
  • Career guidance and professional networking within the AKISAN family.
  • Encouragement of small business development and financial literacy.

Our archives preserve photographs, publications, speeches, and stories from AKISAN conventions, chapter activities, and landmark initiatives. They form a living history of how the Association has served Akwa Ibom people over the years.

Past Projects

From earlier scholarship schemes and medical missions to water projects, IT access campaigns, and humanitarian responses, AKISAN’s past projects show a consistent pattern of service-driven action.

Historical Initiatives

Throughout our history, AKISAN has mobilized the diaspora to support Akwa Ibom State through advocacy, fundraising, and targeted development projects. These initiatives reflect our role as a bridge between the diaspora and home.

Impact Reports

To maintain transparency and celebrate progress, AKISAN is building a library of impact reports highlighting key metrics such as scholarships awarded, communities reached, mission outcomes, and funds deployed. These reports help members and partners see the tangible difference their support makes.
