The Flagship Annual Gathering of the Akwa Ibom Diaspora in the United States

Currently in its 39th year, the AKISAN USA National Convention is the Association’s premier annual event, convening Akwa Ibom indigenes, leaders, professionals, youth, and partners from across the United States and beyond. Organized by the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (USA), Inc. (AKISAN USA), the Convention serves as the Association's highest forum for governance, culture, unity, and strategic engagement.

Hosted on a rotating basis by duly nominated AKISAN chapters, the Convention attracts 2,000–3,000 attendees annually, making it one of the largest and most impactful Akwa Ibom diaspora gatherings worldwide.

Purpose of the National Convention

The AKISAN USA National Convention exists to:

  • Unite Akwa Ibom indigenes across chapters under one national platform.
  • Conduct official Association business, policy discussions, and reporting.
  • Celebrate Akwa Ibom culture, heritage, and shared identity.
  • Foster leadership development, youth engagement, and community growth
  • Strengthen partnerships with the government, the private sector, and civic institutions
  • Showcase excellence, innovation, and service within the diaspora
