About Engr. (Dr.) Mbong Ekiko
Engr. (Dr.) Mbong Ekiko is the 22nd National President and Chief Executive Officer of AKISAN USA Inc., a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization representing citizens of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, resident across the United States. He is the second U.S.-born National President in AKISAN’s 38-year history, leading a nationwide organization with 38 chapters committed to unity, cultural preservation, progress, and global collaboration.
Dr. Ekiko brings deep institutional experience to the role, having served AKISAN in multiple leadership capacities, including Founding Member and Chapter President (Denver and San Diego), Chair of the Emergency Trust Fund, Chair of the 2023 National Convention, Secretary of the Budget & Finance Committee, Member of the Policy & Constitution Committee, At-Large Board of Trustees Member, and First Speaker of the Council of Chapter Presidents.
Professionally, Dr. Ekiko is a Corporate Engineering Executive Vice President at a leading Fortune 500 Aerospace and Defense company, where he provides enterprise-wide leadership in engineering strategy, execution, and growth. With over 20 years of experience, his background spans IT, systems architecture, program management, and the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical C6 systems.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, two Master’s degrees in Computer Information Systems and Telecommunications Engineering, and a Doctorate in Business Organization and Management, complemented by executive leadership training from Columbia Business School and UC Berkeley.
Born in New York, raised in Colorado, and based in San Diego, Dr. Ekiko lives with his wife and four children. His leadership is service-driven, execution-focused, and future-oriented, positioning AKISAN USA for sustained impact and growth.
